Storeman – Warehouse/Yard Operative

THE ROLE

Responsible to the Warehouse Supervisor, we are looking for a Storeman – Warehouse/Yard Operative who can be responsible for checking stock and making sure all stock is correctly handled and stored in the appropriate warehouse locations. Entering stock onto the company IT system and transferring to alternative stock locations when required.

The role:

Working hours: 1000hrs – 1800hrs (Full time, Permanent, 37.5hrs per week)*

There may be part-time working and overtime opportunities. Basic starting rate of pay is £11.50 – £12.50 per hour depending on experience.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensuring that all goods are being stored correctly with emphasis on how the product is being handled.
  • Making sure stock is being stored and used in the correct rotational/date order.
  • Checking products for best/ use by dates and that the product is being moved through the business in the correct order.
  • Highlighting any products which may be reaching their best before date to management daily so that the business is pro-active in movements.
  • Highlight to management any goods arriving from suppliers which have been delivered with date issues, incorrect products, order quantities, damages etc.
  • Supply information to the buying team for stock control purposes.
  • Use the stock system to determine levels of replenishment required and replenish picking stock accordingly.
  • Co-ordinate between all storage areas throughout the business to make sure all stock is being taken into consideration in relation to stock taking & buying information.
  • Produce Daily waste figures and present to management.
  • Ensure all stores/warehouses are checked on a daily basis for goods which may require immediate action.
  • Relocate to stock holding any returns which may have come back from customers, or any orders collected by company drivers.
  • Check system and print off expected GRN’s daily, to show what deliveries are expected on each working day.
  • Operate and maintain a daily register of incoming goods. Note Company, Docket No, GRN and location with comments on any issues preventing stock Put Away.
  • Review goods in Isolation on Daily basis and either return to active stock or process as waste in line with guidelines issued from line supervisor/manager.
  • Responsible for keeping work areas and yard areas clean and tidy.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Awareness and understanding of the “stock rotation, “stock level” and preservation arrangement established by the Company for each product and storage area.
  • The ability to work to a high standard and fully co-operate with all colleagues in a professional and diligent manner.
  • Flexibility to reflect the needs and volume of business at various times of the year.
  • Forklift/Counterbalance certificate.
  • Awareness of relevant health & safety and food handling legislation pertaining to the Company’s operations.
